NEW INDUCTION AWARD

New LDQ (LDAF) Induction Awards

Skills for Care are working with a number of awarding bodies to offer the new Learning Disability Qualification Induction Awards.

UNITS FOR THE NEW INDUCTION AWARDS ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON THIS WEBSITE.

THESE ARE FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. CENTRES SHOULD CONTACT AWARDING BODIES (see below) TO CHECK ON THE EXACT FORMAT EACH IS USING, AND TO HAVE THEIR LEARNING PROGRAMMES ACCREDITED.

The units cover the Common Induction Standards, in the context of supporting people who have learning disabilities. They replace LDAF Induction and Foundation Units.

The units also cover many knowledge requirements for NVQ core units and 'recurring topics'. A mapping for each unit can be downloaded below.

The new Induction Awards are offered both at level 2 and at level 3. The content is broadly the same at each level but with some adjustment to match different roles and depths of knowledge.

The new Induction Awards are the first part of the proposed suite of “Learning Disability Qualifications” (LDQs). These will take learners through induction then on to NVQ and beyond.

Centres must accredit their learning programmes and assessment systems with an awarding body in order to meet LDAF/LDQ requirements. See below for details of which awarding bodies are offering the Induction Award

These units have a notional learning time of 20 hours per unit. (This is learning time not teaching time, therefore time learning/applying in the workplace will count.)

1 - 2 days teaching per unit is a realistic figure.

Learners registered on existing LDAF awards will have a period of time in which to complete their awards.

The units are available in the files below
